My Week So Far

Kate has been having a lot of trouble sleeping lately, she will wake up in the night and stay awake between and hour and a half and two hours. Plus Owen has been coming to visit me regularly during the night for cuddles, making me one exhausted mom.

I was standing at the espresso machine making myself a latte when I looked into the reflection of the artwork that is hanging right there

In the reflection I saw that Kate had figured
out how to open the screen door and
was heading on out for a walk, giving
me a heart attack!

We all went to the park on Saturday

Sunday afternoon we had family over to
celebrate Kate's birthday

the house in it

Happy Birthday Kate. I remember this day a year ago still so vividly, and like that our little baby is one. As a birthday surprise, she decided that today was the day she would start walking. I had meant to post this on Thursday, her birthday, but my need for sleep was too much to ignore so it's been early to bed for the past few nights.

She had no idea what was going on but
she was sure excited

I made a banana cake with cream cheese
icing, safe to say she loved it

In fact, everyone loved it

was all finished

Time to burn off some energy after all that cake

First Day of School

We made it!! Our first summer vacation and we all survived, I was a bit concerned about having both kids home for the summer but with so much support from my family it went very well. Owen had two weeks at day camp which he had a great time and a week up at my parents which he loved. A lot.

On the labour day monday we quickly went through his closet to see if anything fit and what he wanted to wear for his first day back. I was quite surprised at how tall he grew in the past few months, wearing shorts and t-shirts every day you really don't notice the growth spurts!

Owen has been counting down the days till school and was really excited to start back. Kate was missing him by the afternoon, calling out for him and wandering around looking for him. She was really happy to see him when we picked him up at the end of the day. 

Last night Owen asked me if I could get him up earlier so he could have a shower in the morning, he wanted to be smelling clean everyday and asked if he could have a shower in the mornings now instead of the night. Oh boy, where has my little guy gone? Of course it was a half an hour shower this morning, hahaha.
