December catch up and a Merry Christmas pt.1

It has been a very busy month for me. Owen managed to stay relatively cold free only missing one day of school and he has really settled in there, telling us he had a fun day at school when we pick him up. He is also eating and napping really well during the day which make a big difference.
I have settled into work pretty well, getting and enjoying the routine and pushing myself a bit more than normal has finally started to feel good. It was a couple of weeks of me falling asleep before Owen then waking up a couple of hours later realizing that I'd fallen asleep in his room. I'm slowly getting stronger!

Christmas was really wonderful, all three of us had a very special day and because of that i took very few pictures. Rob had the camera so hopefully I can grab some more pics off it tomorrow.

The favorite way to watch tv, wrapped around
Daddys head!

It was a very serious yogurt moment here

As Christmas got closer, Owen got goofier. This was
after school most days, a ball of excitement

I somehow managed to make a batch of curried
ketchup, my first canning experiment and
I was pretty happy with the results

He tried so hard to hide in that little box, we both
had a good laugh at this one

You can't tell from this pic but he was turning around to me,
saying cheese then turning away laughing before I
could take the pick. This went on forever!

The only face shot I got

This night he lay down on the sofa, pulled the blanket up
and requested dinner like this. Of course I couldn't say no.

Christmas morning finally arrived Owen slept in till 8.
He opened all of our stockings equally excited
about what ever was inside

Someone's ready to bake

After a bit of breakfast we moved to the Christmas tree
and Owen was kind enough to open all
the presents, again!

Tried to get the boys looking in the same direction

Sean and Casey arrived late Christmas eve on their way
back from the airport and stayed for all the fun
and excitement. It was great that they
could join us

Owen and Casey testing out his new rocket

The one thing he asked Santa for, candy canes!

After S & C left and we finished up, it was time to head
over to Grandad's house where Santa managed
to leave some more gifts!

Bolton Santa Claus Parade

The pics are not much to look at but we had a great time on Saturday at the Bolton Santa Claus Parade. I'm pretty sure everyone under the age of six was there, amazing how many little people reside here!

We parked ourselves about half way along the route,
this pic was to try and show how busy
it was.

Santa Claus parade = Shriners

Selfie of the two of us with our neighbour photo bombing.

The fire department had several trucks which was a
highlight as well as they were handing
out chocolate

Checking out the horses in the parade

Another crowd shot

Sunday was a nice quiet day with Rob doing house cleaning,
Owen playing with his bud Mackie so I took the opportunity
and started another batch of cider

This Week In Pics

Finally, Sunday afternoon Owen started feeling better

So we went for a much needed play in the park

Made the rookie mistake of taking Owen out shopping with us over the weekend,
everyone has toys on display right now and someone
thought they were meant for him!
He wasn't too impressed with having to leave it behind

I whipped together this advent calender in hopes of getting Owen to
understand the concept of time and patience as he was asking
me every half hour over weekend "is Santa coming"
Last week while my Mom was here looking after Owen
they decorated the tree together and they did
such a great job. Thank you Mom.

The Joys Of Starting School

So this week was another rough one, Owen ended up with pink eye in both eyes as well as a nasty cold and fever. He has eaten very little all week and even his liquid intake was really low.
Oma to the rescue Tuesday afternoon so I could get back to work. well that didn't last long as I lost my voice by Wednesday night and stayed home the rest of the week.
I know this will pass eventually and we will both be able to go to school/work on a regular basis. Hopefully it happens sooner rather than later.

Cinnamon decorations ready to go in the oven. A quick
and easy project Owen and I made up after Oma
left for home

Pink eye is almost gone but it's still lots
of cuddles for this guy

Oma and Owen playing in the totally awesome camper they made

He built a bed inside and snuggled in while Oma drove

"anybody home?"

I made up a tray of cinnamon rolls to say a big thank you
to my Mom for coming to the rescue again

Even when he's sick he still is a goofy guy. He somehow
managed to get my boots on and walk around

My Mom's canned stew to the rescue. Instant home made
goodness

This was the theme of the week so very little pics this week

Sick...Again

At least he got three days at school last week!

It was a weekend of jammies and hanging out

Owen helped decorate the tree on Sunday, can you tell!

We haven't left the bed yet today, hopefully he will have a nap as our nights have been rough and not much sleeping involved. Poor guy is fed up with being sick, understandably.  Hopefully this one is quicker than last weeks cold.

Week One Update

That was one crazy week! Here's a breakdown as best as I can remember:

Monday: Both Owen and I were sad at drop off, he cried a bit during the afternoon but overall was ok. First day of work was a busy one for me, by the time I had picked up Owen and got home I was ready for bed. Best part of the day was pick up, I was greeted with a very happy boy.

Tuesday: Tiny bit of tears from Owen and some crying in the afternoon but overall better than Mon. By the time I picked him up in the afternoon he had a raspy cough and runny nose! That was quick.

Wednesday: Ok, Starting to get into the swing of things! Owen was just a bit sad at drop off but was quick to join the other kids and start playing. I was sort of getting used to being busy every day, more importantly, was really enjoying getting showered every morning. Pick up time was great, Owen was excited to show me around the classroom and teachers said he had an excellent day. He even napped and woke up singing to himself. Too cute.

Thursday: I was at work for less than an hour and got a call from daycare to come get him, he had a fever and diarrhea. I almost started to cry when I picked him up, poor guy was not in good shape. We went home and snuggled for the day. That night he had a pretty good fever and a rough night because he had a hard tine breathing.
Best remedy for feeling sick? Chocolate popsicle.

Friday: We both stayed home as he was not any better.

Nap time
Weekend: Not much improvement other than the fever going down finally.

"I'll have my bath but I'm hot going to like it"
Sunday afternoon/Monday: Oma to the rescue!! My Mom drove down Sunday afternoon and stayed over to look after Owen Monday so I could attempt going to work for a full week! Rob, Owen and I were very happy to see her and Owen was more than happy to stay home from school to hang out with Oma.

And to top it off...it snowed

Oma made the snowman while Owen crashed it

Good times

He was very proud of his crashing

End of the day snuggles
Thanks Oma

Changes

It's no secret that it has been a slow and sometimes frustrating recovery process for me so to change things up a bit I'm going back to work and Owen's going to daycare.
Today was our first day, be both had tears but it ended up being a fantastic day. To help ease the transition Owen went to daycare for two half days last week while I ran around like mad trying to get some errands done. I did make sure to put my feet up for half an hour before picking him up at least.
I'm too tired to write any more so I'm off to bed.
Oma was visiting last week and helped with taking
Owen to his first half day at daycare as well as
being a great help to me while I prepped for working again

All he could talk about all week was going to school, he
was so excited

Too cute

While I do enjoy pineapple I get greater pleasure
in peeling it. True.

"Smile"

The view from my desk, and yes, security dude has startled me
several times already

End of the day, tired but still smiling

Best way to celebrate such a big day? Pizza and a movie and smiles all around
