Pic Update

We've been enjoying the hot weekends out in the
backyard

Rob is often wrapping a towel around his coffee so
I whipped up this insulated cozy for it

Owen lost a tooth at school and it came home in this
plus a page for him to write about how it happened

My Mom made a very adorable busy book for Kate's
birthday, as you can see she loves it

I haven't been around to my rhubarb patch in a while
who knew it would keep growing all summer!
Obviously I didn't

I got into some serious afternoon sewing this week.
Still need to photograph it but I was
able to make a cozy jacket for the fall and am quite happy

Owen then lost his other tooth a couple days later

These two being adorable after bath time

It was a very lazy weekend for us as we were both
quite sick thanks to back to school germs. Thankfully
we were able to take naps and relax as much as possible

Kate happily played while Owen was at the fall fair with
his Grandad and Rob and I enjoyed the quiet

TWO

It's wild, crazy and true...Kate is Two!!!

The morning started off with balloons and streamers
which Owen helped me set up

This was moments before both kids went to town
on the decorations. At least they both enjoyed them.

After dropping Owen off at school, Kate wanted
to make a cake

She was very serious about her cake making

A new set of paint brushes were waiting for her
and she was very happy to start using them

She lasted almost 20 minutes before this started!

After dinner we had birthday cake

Which I somehow managed to whip up and ice
during the day along with making meatballs for dinner

Birthday girl definitely approved

We measured the kids today, as we do on their birthdays. Since Owens birthday just five months ago, Owen has grown 1.5 inches and Kate a whopping 3.5 inches!!!!!

Pic Update

It was the last few days of Summer vacation before school started and we all wanted to make the best of it.

Owen was a very proud big brother and
insisted on showing Kate how to
ride her bike while I watched

Between all the outdoor play we were
sure to take a break and enjoy
some summer praches

And what would a long weekend be without a
trip to Ikea! Luckily we went first thing
and were able to get in and out in an hour

First day of Grade One French Immersion,
he was so excited to be back.

Rob was home on the Tuesday so I went out, kid free,
and got a haircut. Totally loving this

It was Sunday afternoon so we all went for a walk
through the ravine and around the
neighbourhood.

What a great week back

Owen went to work with Rob for the past two
Saturdays and he loved it! I loved his
overalls on him

I forgot to take a before pic but, this was a one day project. We
painted white from a blagh yellow and installed
this headboard which is a piece of MDF with a print on it.
On of the fastest and most rewarding renos so far!!

Again, forgot a before pic but we did a quick rearrange of the
furniture and it has made a big improvement. We both really
enjoy hanging out here with the family

On a morning when it wasn't too hot, we
went to the park. I think they were
having a dance party

Then making stone angels, instead of
snow angels

Owen had such a fantastic time at Oma and Grandpas
that he went back again for another week. We met
halfway in Peterborough at the Zoo

We spent the entire time at the splash pad. Kate would
run back every once and a while to show us how
wet she was the run back to find Owen

I don't know how we did it but we managed to
convince them both to come and eat some lunch

We've had a good amount of rain, finally!

So it was off to the park for us.

Kate spent at least half an hour jumping

An early morning painting session

Followed by a strip down and play in the rain
to wash off the paint

I grew my own SCOBY then brewed my first batch
of kombucha. I have set it up as a
continuous brew method, hopefully I have sucess 

Mmmmm, morning lattes and a treat. You can also
see the two poufs I made in a day. I am really
enjoying my sewing room, it's a great space just for
me to get creative.

 

After work this week the boys went for back
to school haircuts. I'm really digging his cut and
might just go visit his stylist soon!

Kate has become quite quick with the markers

I left her alone for a moment and came back to this

and this, with a ton of laughter

I eventually convinced her to sit

Owen finally came home after two weeks
up at my parents. It was so exciting to see him again

I got my Mom to shave my head again, Rob gets
too nervous doing it

Summertime lunch platter for the kids

Kate found Sean's old dog and insisted on
dressing it and putting a diaper on it

Thanks to Airmiles, we have a family size tent. Rob
and I were able to set it up surprisingly fast

The boys have set up and have been camping out
there a few times now. Yes, that's an airmattress
and TV set up in there.

I was so distracted with Kate painting circles and
choices of colours that I didn't notice...

Yup, I'm full on bragging here. She purposely put
the marker in her hand like that in order to draw.

We packed up the car Friday morning and headed
up to the Elmvale Zoo

It was a perfect day for it

Owen fed to giraffe and Kate immediately had to
do the same.

Then came the goats. I'm guessing we were in
there for half an hour with 20 or so little
goats just wandering around. Kate couldn't
get enough of it and Owen loved when they
were chewing on his shoes

These goats were surprisingly calm for how may
kids were in there

It took us about and hour and a half to walk through
the it was time to play in the park

and an ice cream break. It was a wonderful summer
vacation day with the kids.
